Lines X Cities 1 : Urban Highways

The research and related course focus on the intersection of the city and the most ubiquitous and increasingly less productive vast support system of the automobile, once a heralded apparatus of Modernism and a tool of choice for territorial control and reinvention of living. Investigating the ways of redefining the highway’s relationship to the city, the research explore possibilities of transforming the often undifferentiated and mono-functional network into a performative and productive urban system, which utilizes their potentials as the “spatial” infrastructure beyond its original utilities of mobility and conveyance.
